William Winstone
I am an executive coach, team coach and coaching supervisor, working with senior leaders, teams, and coaches to help them develop greater awareness, presence and impact in their work. Alongside executive and team coaching, a significant part of my practice is coaching supervision, both one-to-one and in groups. I particularly enjoy supporting experienced practitioners as they reflect on complex client dynamics, navigate challenge and uncertainty, and deepen their understanding of what they themselves bring into the coaching relationship.
My supervision approach is relational, reflective, and psychologically informed, helping coaches strengthen both their practice and their capacity to work well under pressure.
More broadly, my work is shaped by a long-standing interest in what helps people lead and work well whilst also experiencing their lives as purposeful, satisfying, and sustainable. I am interested not simply in performance, but in helping people flourish in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.
Alongside my individual coaching and supervision work, Jonathan Males and I co-lead Building Reflexivity, a series of experiential workshops for coaches and supervisors. These workshops help practitioners deepen their reflexive capacity, strengthen their “internal supervisor”, and become more aware of how their assumptions, emotional responses and histories shape their work with clients. Our latest workshop, Building Reflexivity 2: Reflexivity in Action, focuses particularly on reflection-in-action — developing the ability to remain fully engaged with a client while also noticing and working with one’s own internal process in the moment.
I have worked extensively with senior leaders and teams across professional and financial services, private equity-backed businesses, healthcare, universities, and the public sector. Alongside my business work, I spent 14 years as Team Psychologist for GB Para Rowing and supported Essex Cricket during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
I am Founder of William Winstone Consulting and remain positively connected with Mezzana Partners, which I co-founded, continuing to work with them on selected leadership and team development programmes.
I am an Accredited Master Executive Coach (APECS), qualified coaching supervisor (Bath Consultancy Group), HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist and CASES Accredited Sport Psychologist.
