Accredited Master Supervisor

Appropriate for - 

Established Practitioners who meet the full Professional Standards for Supervisor Accreditation.

Accreditation is designed for experienced, established Supervisors, who wish to be part of a strong peer community.

APECS Master accreditation is increasingly recognised by corporate buyers as a confirmation of best practice and experience.

It indicates that those who hold Master accreditation are committed to ongoing CPPD, supervision and professional training which is relevant to the practice of Supervision.

Criteria for Master Supervisor Accreditation

Throughout the accreditation journey applicants will need to come prepared to discuss and be asked to provide a range of evidence to include, but not limited to -

1. Applicants need to demonstrate extensive supervision experience, typically over at least five years, and that supervision is a principal component of their working practice and professional identity. This relates to their normal working practice, however supervision on a voluntary basis is welcomed as appropriate experience.

2. At least five years' executive business or organisational experience personally (e.g. line management or consultancy).

3. Evidence of and commitment to Continuing Personal Professional Development, including a minimum of twelve months' supervision in a form recognised by APECS with the same suitably qualified Supervisor, prior to application. We also require confirmation of your continuous use of Supervision in forms recognised by APECS, and appropriate to your practice for at least five years - see the full list of APECS Supervision Requirements and FAQs here

4. Understanding and application of ethical and boundary management considerations in coaching and supervision

5. Articulate a detailed rationale/philosophy of their practice and model of working

6. Demonstration of an interest in and some manner of contribution to the field

7. Reflection on and evaluation of professional practice

8. Acceptance of and commitment to abide by APECS Ethical Guidelines and the Global Code of Ethics, to which APECS is a signatory

9. Undertaking to comply with UK requirements or those governing the geographic area in which they work

10. References from two referees and a statement from their supervisor confirming supervision

11. Professional Liability Insurance of at least £1 million (or monetary equivalent) per incident

Certified Professional Supervisor

Appropriate for -

Certified Professional certification is suitable for developing Supervisors with an established practice and for whom supervision is a significant part of their working practice and professional identity.

It can serve as a point on the path to Master accreditation.

Criteria for Certified Professional Supervisor

Throughout the accreditation journey applicants will need to come prepared to discuss and be asked to provide a range of evidence to include, but not limited to -

1. 1. We define Executive as having ‘a level of leadership responsibility (financial / operational / people) and / or responsibility for policy formulation and / or who makes a senior level individual contribution in the organisation’.

2. APECS refers to CPPD by including the term ‘personal’ in the normal use of the phrase as a way of emphasising how it is often a very personal choice people make about how they continue to develop themselves.
