My approach to my coaching and supervision practice

Janine is an experienced executive and careers coach, supervisor and consultant with over thirty years in leadership, coaching and organisational development. She works with senior leaders, emerging talent and professional coaches to strengthen confidence, clarity and resilience. Drawing on her experience of leading HRD and OD functions in the UK and New Zealand, she helps organisations embed coaching cultures and create the conditions for people to think well, act purposefully and perform at their best.

Her coaching and supervision practice is pragmatic, forward-looking and grounded in what works. She supports leaders at pivotal moments in their careers, whether stepping into new roles, leading through change or expanding their influence, and helps coaches deepen reflection, sustain resilience and stay connected to their best work. Clients value her calm presence, sharp thinking and practical optimism which help them find clarity and direction in complex situations.

Janine has introduced thousands of leaders, coaches and professionals to Solutions Focused approaches through training, supervision and consultancy. She has also taught on postgraduate coaching, leadership and HR programmes at Birkbeck and Westminster Universities and for the CIPD. She is co-author of 'Positively Speaking: The Art of Constructive Conversations with a Solutions Focus', 'The Resilience Pocketbook' and 'The Executive Guide to Engagement, Resilience and Performance.'

What APECS means to me

APECS feels like a professional home, a community of thoughtful and skilled practitioners who bring both depth and warmth to their work. I value its commitment to reflection, ethical practice and continual learning.

In the Membership role, I want to strengthen relationships across our growing community so members feel connected, supported and proud to belong. I’m particularly keen to create spaces for conversation and collaboration that reflect the spirit of APECS – curious, generous and engaged.

The value I bring to clients

Clients describe me as warm, thoughtful and clear. I combine patience with direction, engaging and encouraging when it helps, focused and challenging when it counts. I’m skilled at drawing together the threads of what people share, creating clarity and momentum.

Rather than analysing what’s wrong, I focus on what’s working and what’s possible. I trust that clients have the resources to find their own way forward, and my role is to help them notice and use those strengths with confidence.
